Arterial Network is a network of cultural players from across the continent.
The national branches are at the heart of the platform because they are rooted in civil society, which is where the desired changes must take place. They are therefore crucial instruments for carrying out the structure's missions, which include changing working conditions and ensuring a stable income for artists.
The network is active in all activities relating to culture: from creating toolkits for running an association to organising events, management training and human rights issues in the arts, not forgetting journalism, fundraising and cultural activism.
Officially, the Arterial network comprises forty national branches:
- NORTH AFRICA: Algeria, Egypt, Mauritania, Tunisia and Morocco
- WEST AFRICA: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Guinea and Gambia.
- EAST AFRICA: Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia and Mauritius
- CENTRAL AFRICA: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo and Gabon
- SOUTH AFRICA: Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe
Programme 2015-2016 Africalia contributes to management costs (staff salaries, overheads, etc.) and also finances research, studies on the economic impact of projects, the development of toolkits and the consolidation of networks, particularly in countries where Africalia is active and where this partner can strengthen its action.
