Lushois artists Jackson Bukasa and Dan Kayeye spent two months in artistic residency at Atelier Graphoui, to co-direct their animated short film, Mozalisi, inspired by a magnificent artistic installation by artist Justice Kasongo, consisting of an ingenious cart with dozens of mobile puppets representing significant events in Congolese history.
Summary
Mozalisi (Creator in Lingala) tells the story of a people who live peacefully in their universe until one day, a foreign entity, driven by the desire for wealth, decides to subjugate and manipulate them. .
Donat, a young student, tired of the vicious circle and the misery in which his people live, decides to change the course of things.

Born in Kolwezi on June 20, 1985, Jackson BUKASA has a degree in performing arts from the University of Lubumbashi. He is coordinator of Workshops at the Picha art and research center, responsible for AKM Vision, an audiovisual production house and event organization. From 2012 to 2022, he wrote and directed short films for the introductory cinema course given at the University of Lubumbashi. Jackson BUKASA is also an actor and director.
Dan KAYEYE was born in 1991 in Kinshasa and grew up in Lubumbashi. He has a bachelor's degree as a computer programmer from Maharishi Markandeshwar University (India). A self-taught cartoonist, he created the Kayart animation studio, 4 animated films have already been made there and several new projects are in development.
Restitution of the residency took place on Monday July 15. It was the perfect opportunity to meet these talented artists, to learn more about their creative process and to preview their short film in progress, all followed by a friendly moment around a glass.
