B-FASO CREATIVE, training for entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative industries of Burkina Faso

Africalia asbl, in collaboration with the Royal Danish Embassy in Burkina Faso, convinced of the enormous potential that the creative industries in Burkina Faso represent in terms of creations, jobs and economic growth, both locally and nationally, launched a pilot programme, B-FASO Creative, in October 2017. Through intensive training, this programme aims to strengthen the skills of Burkina Faso's Cultural and Creative Industries entrepreneurs in cultural entrepreneurship.

B-FASO Creative training participants :

At the end of the three-month course, participants will have been able to:

- Draw up a business plan;
- Clear and precise information on current legal and tax issues;
- Learn about different types of innovative financing in the CCI sector;
- Take advantage of information and communication technology tools and all the marketing techniques used on digital media and channels;
- Benefit from the expertise of mentors with international experience.

The training lasted 3 months and took place in 3 distinct and complementary phases:

- Online training via www.africalia.net
- Benefit from the expertise of mentors and speakers with international experience during two one-week residential workshops in Ouagadougou and Koudougou.
- An evaluation session on 24 January 2018 in Ouagadougou.

The closing ceremony of the B-Faso Creative programme took place on 26 January 2018 in Ouagadougou. During the evening, 6 entrepreneurs were invited to present their projects in front of a jury of 5 people chaired by Mr Michel Saba, Director of CERAV and an audience of journalists, cultural and private operators. The jury awarded prizes to 3 entrepreneurs, each of whom received :

- Mamounata Nikiema will benefit from the services of an ICT expert.
- Yannick Sankara will receive a one-year broadband internet subscription and a camera
- Mahamoudou Nacanabo will benefit from an immersion grant with a firm specialising in crowdfunding project support.
