About FESPACO

FESPACO is considered to be one of the continent's biggest film events. Every odd-numbered year, for one week, the biennial festival brings together professionals and non-professionals from Africa and the rest of the world around a common theme: African cinema and the African diaspora. During these cinematic events, film competitions are organised, enabling professionals of the 7th African art to compare their know-how in a spirit of striving for excellence, in order to better position African cinema on the international scene. It's both a cultural event (through cultural and artistic expression) and a festive event, with thousands of festival-goers meeting up every two years to exchange experiences, emotions and projects. And all over the city, it's a film festival...
