Africalia promotes the development of the cultural sector in the broadest sense of the term. Among other things, this involves supporting the training activities that our partners implement to strengthen the cultural fabric of their respective countries. Let’s go back in time: last December, our Burkinabe partner Plateforme Culturelle du Burkina Faso (PCBF) organised the second edition of its summer school Hivern’Art et Culture.
Hivern'Art et Culture
Through Hivern'Art et Culture, PCBF aims to facilitate consultation, training and reflection, in order to better defend the interests of the cultural sector. During this second edition of the summer university, the participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and come into contact with new best practices. PCBF offered a wide range of activities, from training in digital strategy and advocacy to the production of a television programme and the organisation of thematic conferences.
Digital strategy for cultural institutions
Some twenty young cultural administrators gathered on December 20th and 21st, 2024 at the Espace Culturel Gambidi for a digital strategy training course. Under the guidance of Dian Diallo, they spent two days delving into artificial intelligence and the opportunities it offers for the sector.

Consultation workshop
In addition to a specialised course on digital strategy, PCBF also organised press conferences and meetings on specific topics. On December 27th, several representatives of the CCIs reflected together on the need for a consultation framework for the cultural sector. Organised with the support of Africalia and in partnership with the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism in Burkina Faso, this workshop notably prompted reflection on the establishment of a CCI forum. Small working groups discussed the orientation, implementation and funding of such a forum.

PCBF on television
Also as part of the summer school activities, Salif Sanfo and Claude Guingane, directors of the Association Benkadi pour la Culture et le Développement (ABCD) and the Espace Culturel Gambidi respectively – both member organisations of the PCBF – were invited to the Burkina Info television studio on December 30th. They discussed the past and planned activities of PCBF and addressed in depth the opportunities and challenges of the cultural sector in Burkina Faso.
