First workshop of the “Theatrical Emergence” program of the Tarmac des Auteurs

In the DRC, our Kinshasa partner the Tarmac des Auteurs offered the first training course of the 2025 edition of the “Emergence Theatrical” program. This program, supported by Tarmac in cooperation with the Factory Platform, aims to support young artists in the production of their first show, in a professional and professionalizing setting. From March 17 to April 1, 21 young people gathered at the Tarmac for a workshop dedicated to dramaturgy and acting.

Theatrical Emergence

For several years now, the Tarmac des Auteurs, with the support of Africalia, has been implementing the "Émergence Théâtrale" program to support emerging theatrical creation in the DRC. With a view to professionalizing their careers, young artists with diverse backgrounds—actors, directors, comedians, slam poets, poets, and photographers—can participate in the program to strengthen their skills in key areas of the theatrical creation process. For the 2025 edition, the Tarmac has planned three training sessions, during which participants will focus on dramaturgy, scenography, and acting.

Dramaturgy and Acting Workshop

From March 17 to April 1, the Tarmac welcomed 21 young people at the beginning of their program for the first of three workshops, which focused on dramaturgy and acting. French actress and director Audrey Bommier led this inspiring artistic exploration laboratory, during which participants explored three theater texts: "Bintou" by Ivorian Koffi Kwahule, "Anthropophénix" by Congolese Dieudonné Niangouna, and "Dans le lit de mon père (circonstances obligent)" by Belgian Magne Van Den Berg.

These initial creative encounters allow young artists to take their first steps towards future productions that they will present at the next edition of the "Ça se passe à Kin" festival in 2026. The workshop that Tarmac has just closed is therefore only the starting point of this support program for them.
