In the DRC, our partner in Kinshasa Tarmac des Auteurs hosted the first training course of the 2025 edition of the ‘Émergence Théâtrale’ programme. This programme, run by Tarmac in cooperation with Plateforme Factory, aims to support young artists in their first production, in a professional and professionalising context. From March 17th to April 1st, 21 young professionals came together at Tarmac des Auteurs for a dramaturgy and acting workshop.
Émergence Théâtrale
For several years now, Tarmac des Auteurs, with Africalia’s support, has been organising the ‘Émergence Théâtrale’ programme to support emerging theatre creation in the DRC. With a view to their professionalisation, young artists with varied profiles – actors, directors, comedians, slammers, poets and photographers – can participate in the programme to strengthen their skills in key areas of theatre creation. For the 2025 edition, Tarmac has planned three training courses, which will focus on dramaturgy, scenography and acting.

Dramaturgy and acting workshop
From March 17th to April 1st, Tarmac welcomed 21 young people at the start of their careers for the first of these three workshops, dedicated to dramaturgy and acting. French actress and director Audrey Bommier led this inspiring laboratory of artistic exploration, during which the participants were invited to explore three plays: ‘Bintou’ by Koffi Kwahule (Ivory Coast), ‘Anthropophénix’ by Dieudonne Niangouna (DRC) and ‘Dans le lit de mon père (circonstances obligent)’ by Magne Van Den Berg (Belgium).
The first creative encounters allowed the young artists to take their first steps towards future productions which they will present at the next edition of the ‘Ça se passe à Kin’ festival, in 2026. The workshop they have just wrapped up is only the starting point of their journey with Tarmac des Auteurs.
