After the album Impala Hotel (2008) and its Congolese version, Kinshasa Branch (2011), awarded 4 stars by the world press (NY Times, Guardian, El Pais, les Inrocks...), Baloji is preparing to release a new album in spring 2018, Avenue Kaniamaon the prestigious indie label Bella Union.

Baloji himself produces the clips and visuals for his various projects. Kaniama show is his first short fiction film. It is intended as a satire on propagandist television in Africa, and his first feature film, for which he wrote the script and will direct, is scheduled for release in 2019. Baloji in Swahili means "man of science", but during colonisation its meaning drifted, with evangelisation, to "men of occult sciences and witchcraft". Placing resilience at the heart of his work, Baloji proposes an art of collusion and crossover, unbridled and free from the boundaries of "genres".
