Created in 2018 by Cinéma Numérique Ambulant Afrique, the FESTIC is committed to promoting and safeguarding cultural wealth threatened with disappearance. The 6th edition of this emblematic festival was held in Ouagadougou from May 7 to 11, 2024, bringing together numerous personalities and delegations from traveling digital cinema from various African countries (Mali, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, DRC) .
This year, the theme of the festival focused on identity and peace building, with a particular focus on the Dagara community. FESTIC aspires to enrich people's knowledge of the cultural values and expressions of communities, to encourage intercultural dialogue and to promote oratory arts.
A rich and varied program
During the 4 days of the festival, 7,000 people gathered around a rich and varied program, designed by the organizing team and including numerous activities:
Training in video production and TVPaint
In collaboration with Canal+, training in video production and TVPaint was organized ahead of the festival. This training benefited 40 young people, introduced to the techniques of the professional animation software TVPaint, used in the cinema industry, as well as the fundamentals of video production. The young participants made two films at the end of the training.

New to the festival, this masterclass led by Issaka Sawadogo and Laure Guiré combined theoretical and practical knowledge in acting, thus benefiting thirty participants from various backgrounds.
Film screenings
24 films, including works of fiction and documentaries, were screened in the Ouidi district and at the Cité Universitaire de l'Institut des Sciences, offering a variety of perspectives and captivating stories.
Discussion panel
A panel composed of civil society actors, artists and academics allowed for enriching exchanges around the theme of the festival, stimulating a constructive dialogue on identity and the construction of peace.
Resilience Night
A flagship event of the festival, Resilience Night offered participants the opportunity to discover various facets of the Dagara community through performances and moving testimonies.
Cavalry Exhibition
An exhibition dedicated to cavalry immersed festival-goers in the rich and fascinating history of this tradition, illustrating its cultural and historical importance.
Musical entertainment
Every evening, concerts were organized after the screenings, allowing festival-goers to let themselves be carried away by the magic of the music of the artists and traditional dance troupes.
Young audience area
A space dedicated to young people has been set up in the heart of the festival village in the Ouidi district. Designed specifically for children, this space offered adapted activities (films, fun activities) promoting their imagination and creativity while making them aware of the magical world of cinema.
FESTIC 2024 has thus succeeded in creating a space for cultural celebration and deep reflection, bringing together people from all backgrounds to honor and preserve Africa's cultural treasures. See you next year for a new, even more enriching edition!
