As part of our program in Belgium, we are launching a call for expressions of interest for creators based in Belgium. For the third time, we are seeking innovative cultural and creative projects to promote intercultural dialogue and enhance the visibility of Afro-descendant creativity. This new edition will focus on the theme of the extraction of matter and its metamorphoses.
15 projects will be shortlisted for a tailor-made training program, after which 6 of them will receive financial support to realise their vision.
The full call for expressions of interest (in French or Dutch) is available here.
What?
This call for submissions seeks works that embrace their inherently conflicting materiality, where the material is simultaneously the resource and the message. In art, the choice of a material is never neutral. It embodies a worldview, an ethic of production, and a relationship to the living world. Matter, whether mineral, vegetable, organic, or synthetic, lies at the heart of contemporary challenges. We invite artists to consider the transformation of matter as an act that is simultaneously aesthetic, ethical, and political.
Where?
Belgium
Who?
This call for expressions of interest is open to (1) non-profit organisations, artists' collectives or other cultural structures established in Belgium and carrying out regular activities in the cultural sector, or to (2) individual artists, provided that they work in partnership with a cultural association/organisation.
