Creative Youth in Mbuji-Mayi: music project launch

As part of the project Jeunesse Créative project,, an initiative ofEnabel in the DRC, Africalia is implementing a support program for young singers in Mbuji-MayiThe auditions for the music program were held on July 10 and 11, 2025. This key stage aimed to identify 10 promising young singing artists, who will benefit from an intensive training program with a view to professionalizing their artistic practice.

Auditions and selection

Following a call for applications in June 2025, 28 young people were shortlisted. 26 of them attended the auditions, organized at the premises of Radelkor, our local partner responsible for implementing the project.

The selection process was conducted by a jury of experts, composed of emblematic figures of the African music sector: Saintrick Mayitoukou (artist, producer and arranger, Senegal), Gabriel Wadigesila (multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and arranger, DRC) and Mardoché Kadiayi Tshilumba (cultural actor in Mbuji-Mayi, DRC). During two days rich in emotions and artistic discoveries, the members of the jury rigorously and kindly evaluated the candidates' performances.

Collective album

Following the auditions, 10 young artists were selected to join the program. They will begin their first training session in August 2025, kicking off an ambitious and promising collective artistic adventure. At the end of this support from Africalia and Radelkor, a collective album will be produced, offering young talents the opportunity to showcase their music far beyond local borders.
