Special FESPACO evening in Brussels

17 January 2019, 7.30pm - Cinéma Palace

To celebrate the festival's 50th anniversary, the special evening dedicated to African cinema will include a screening of a great classic. The film being shown is "Hyènes" by Senegalese director Djibril DIOP MAMBÉTY (1991, 110 minutes, film in Wolof, French, Japanese, French subtitles).

In Colobane, the return of Linguère Ramatou, a local girl said to be richer than the World Bank, is announced. But her generosity will come at a price: a cheque for a hundred billion in exchange for the death of Draman Drameh, who had refused to recognise their child 30 years earlier. "Life has made a whore of me, I want to turn the world into a brothel", Linguère triumphantly asserts to the people of Colobane, whose solidarity is about to melt away like snow in the sun.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 17 January 2019 at 7.30pm at the Cinéma Palace (Boulevard Anspach 85, 1000 Brussels). Tickets can be collected from 7pm on the spot.
