AUTHORS' TARMAC

Tarmac des Auteurs is a theatre based in Kintambo, a working-class district of Kinshasa. Tarmac's aims are to strengthen and professionalise Kinshasa's theatre sector and to create a textual repertoire of works written by artists from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The association aims to make the performing arts and texts by contemporary authors accessible to all, and works to this end through training, presenting, creating and raising awareness.

One of the main activities of Tarmac des Auteurs is the organisation of playwriting workshops, which in 2011 resulted in a collection of Congolese plays published by Lansman.

Programme 2017-2021: Africalia supports the strengthening of associative, administrative and financial management, theatre training and writing workshops, as well as the marketing of theatrical productions.

Programme 2022-2026 : Africalia assists and supports the organisation in (1) strengthening associative governance and networking cultural players, (2) advocacy, (3) professionalising skills, (4) producing quality cultural and artistic works, (5) disseminating works more widely and (6) generating income.
