AFRICALIA was present at the 13th Marché des Arts et du Spectacle Africain in Abidjan (MASA)

Participation panel

Dorine Rurashitse, Director of Africalia, has been invited to take part in the panel entitled "Reference international institutions supporting culture in Africa: programmes and challenges".

Alongside the Institut Français, the Goethe Institut, the AECID, Instituto Camões and EnaBel, she shared our organisation's missions as a Belgian ACNG, which are set out in programmes to support cultural players (associations, companies, artists) in developing and structuring creative and cultural ecosystems in around ten African countries, as well as the programme implemented in Belgium to raise awareness among Belgian cultural operators of contemporary African and Afro-descendant creativity.

Afrique Créative programme, invited by KréaAfrica.

KréAfrica is a programme implemented by Campus AFD, Trace Academia and Alexandria Senghor University. Like Afrique Créative, this programme aims to build the capacities of African cultural and creative enterprises to foster the development of cultural and creative industries on the continent.

Sam Wijnants, coordinator of the AC programme, and Luc Mayitoukou, Director of Zhu Culture and a member of the Afrique Créative consortium, led a module on the contribution of CCIs to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They presented the objectives of the Afrique Créative programme financed by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), which, through its support for entrepreneurs, demonstrates the potential and contribution of CCIs to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative industries ecosystem do more than just create businesses. In their interactions with potential investors or when applying for funding, it is crucial to highlight the impact on the SDGs through the storytelling of their brand and the values and messages conveyed in their artistic creations. Integrating the SDGs into the DNA of your brand/company reinforces its relevance in a world in search of sustainable and inclusive solutions.
