Design Indaba has become a respected institution on the global creative landscape, based on the foundation of an annual Festival that has attracted and showcased the world’s brightest talent since 1995. It has broadened its through-the-year offering with the online design publication that features the best of the world’s creativity and attracts over half a million visitors each year. Through these channels Design Indaba champions noteworthy design, facilitate and produce creative projects, support creative businesses and run educational initiatives.
Jade Adami is Design Indaba’s Project Manager for Africa.Now, a series of design focused research trips into unchartered territories across the African continent. The project delves into creative work being produced across the continent and serves as an up-to-the-minute survey of emerging, established and unexpected talent from across Africa. Through the project, Design Indaba actively seeks out fresh talent in the fields of design, art, music and film and promotes it via DesignIndaba.com. In 2017, Africa.Now will be a fully-fledged travelling exhibition that will visit the Design Museum in Holon, Israel.
Bev Cupido loves finding the latest trends, and most of all loves the relationships she develops with up and coming designers from all over South Africa. Bev holds a vast network of young design talent and has been Design Indaba’s Project Manager for the Emerging Creatives programme since 2007. For 2016, the programme provides South Africa’s future designers with the opportunity to meet leaders in the local and international design industry. Their work will be showcased to retail buyers and media from around the world and they will also be supported, mentored and guided in how to manage and grow small businesses.
