Work In Progress began in 2024 with an initial series of <strong>training on anti-racism in the cultural sector<\/strong>. Following the publication of the <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbko.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2024\/11\/1.-Work-in-Progress-FR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">informative guide<\/a> after this first series, Africalia and the <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbko.be\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">RABKO<\/a> (the Brussels Arts Network) organized five new training courses on anti-racism from February to June 2025. You can now listen again to the key points of this second season in the <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/rabko-341952873\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Work In Progress podcast<\/a>.<a id=\"_msocom_1\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"19926\" src=\"https:\/\/africalia.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DSC03825-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19926\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"19927\" src=\"https:\/\/africalia.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DSC04035-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19927\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Five sessions on anti-racism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The second edition of Work In Progress kicked off on February 20 at Cinema Nova in Brussels. Carla Mascia, a sociologist at the Universit\u00e9 Libre de Bruxelles, hosted a <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbko.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2025\/07\/2025.02.20_Work-in-Progress-1_Nova_PV_FR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">introductory session<\/a> on social inequality in the arts and presented his research \u201cInequal Arts\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the second session, which took place at Espace Magh on March 27, we explored the <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbko.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2025\/07\/2025.03.27_Work-in-Progress-2_Espace-Magh_PV_FR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">spaces and audiences<\/a> with Loubna El Wahabi (Espace Magh), Elen Sylla (Atelier Graphoui) and Michel Steyaert (Centre Vid\u00e9o de Bruxelles). How can we rethink our mediation practices to make our cultural venues welcoming spaces for all?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Vie, we discussed possible strategies and partnerships to ensure a <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbko.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2025\/07\/2025.04.24_Work-in-Progress-3_Programmation-partenariats_TDLV_PV.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">programming<\/a> inclusive with the artist Pitcho and the expert Mireille-Tsheusi Robert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the fourth session, we went to the Kaaitheater on May 20, where Barbara Van Lindt and Nadia El-Boubsi discussed an anti-racist approach in the <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbko.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2025\/07\/2025.05.20_Work-in-Progress-4_Kaaistudios_PV_FR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">governance<\/a>We were particularly interested in the how and why of inclusion in the workplace, in management bodies and in application procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On June 24, we closed the training series with a <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbko.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2025\/07\/2025.06.24_Work-in-Progress-5_Pilar_PV_FR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">retrospective session<\/a> hosted by Pilar. Researchers Amal Miri (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Empact vzw and Nuff Said) and Jacinthe Mazzocchetti (UCLouvain), diversity experts Annelies Baes (Actiris) and Emilie Frankinet (BRUXEO), and cultural operators and artists Aminata Demba (actress), Cathy Min Jung (Le Rideau) and Serenella Martufi (Medeber Teatro) reviewed the key points of the series. We focused on the place of racialized women and &#039;migrant&#039; artists in the performing arts, the legal framework regarding diversity and an anti-racist approach to programming and mediation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"19928\" src=\"https:\/\/africalia.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DSC03882-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19928\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"19929\" src=\"https:\/\/africalia.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DSC03920-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19929\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Podcast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first season of Work In Progress resulted in an informative guide. For the second season, Africalia and RABKO have created a bilingual podcast\u2014in collaboration with Babelfish. Experts from the five different sessions share best practices, recommendations, experiences, and concerns in five consecutive episodes.
