The Ngoma Festival, an international performing arts event organised by the Taccems Group, ended on Friday, August 30, 2024. For seven days, art lovers filled the performance hall of the Ngoma cultural centre, braving the rain on several occasions to appreciate the vibrant displays of talent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conjunction with the festival, Africalia, in partnership with Groupe Taccems, organised an advocacy capacity-building workshop for its partners in Kinshasa, Goma, Bukavu and Kisangani. Representatives of the P\u00f4le Est cultural network were also invited to the workshop. This was a powerful symbol of collaboration between the players in the sector. The workshop was led by Augustin Bikale, a UNESCO expert. Africalia was represented by our Programme Manager, Magalie Kisukurume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simultaneously, another initiative spotlighted young people: the \u2018BOKUNDOLI\u2019 slam workshop, organised in collaboration with CEC ONG. This workshop, devoted to the female figures who have left their mark on African history, gave talented young people the opportunity to revisit these overlooked heroines and bring their stories to life through slam. The results of this work were presented during the festival, offering the public a moment of great emotion and discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
