AFF festival<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Afrika Filmfestival (AFF)<\/strong><\/a> aims to bring high-quality, original and socially relevant films about Africa and its diaspora to a wide and diverse audience. Using the artistic means offered by cinema, AFF aims to draw attention both to the development of this art form and to its role in society. It sees cinema as a means of bringing cultures and people together, extending culture and as a basis for social development. Cinema brings a more nuanced representation, the discovery of another way of life and thinking. By promoting African films, AFF also contributes to the development of the audiovisual sector in African countries.<\/p>\n

As part of the partnership with Africalia and its Global Citizenship and Solidarity Education programme<\/strong>AFF and Africalia will be working together on the conference Humanising Culture, Art and Media<\/em> <\/strong><\/a>. One of AFF's hallmarks is its critical approach to the image of Africa and its people in culture, art and the media. AFF aims to dismantle cultural (and political) stereotypes and clich\u00e9s about the \"Other\". Finally, their activities DocAfrika<\/em> <\/strong><\/a> and Afrika thuis in je buurt<\/em> <\/strong> offer film and documentary screenings followed by debates throughout the year in Flanders.<\/p>\n
