{"id":13320,"date":"2014-07-16T11:40:48","date_gmt":"2014-07-16T11:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africalia.be\/smaaklik\/"},"modified":"2023-11-08T10:20:26","modified_gmt":"2023-11-08T10:20:26","slug":"smaaklik","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africalia.be\/en\/smaaklik\/","title":{"rendered":"SMAAKLIK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/africalia.be\/en\/assets\/files\/SMAAKLIK03-copyright-africalia.jpg\/\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1742\" src=\"https:\/\/africalia.be\/assets\/files\/SMAAKLIK03-copyright-africalia-1100x735.jpg\" alt=\"smaaklik03-copyright-africalia\" width=\"750\" height=\"501\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>SMAAKLIK, a work of art on Ghent's Centrumplein<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The artwork SMAAKLIK by South African artist Ismail Farouk was installed in spring 2015 on the recently opened Centrumplein in Ledeberg (Hundelgemsesteenweg 125, 9050 Ledeberg).<br \/>\nThe work is made up of several concrete blocks of varying heights, which together form the word SMAAKLIK, the equivalent of \"Bon app\u00e9tit\" in Afrikaans.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Contemporary South African art<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The work was produced by the City of Ghent in collaboration with Africalia. The artist Ismail Farouk, who has already carried out a number of socio-artistic projects in Johannesburg, visited Ledeberg several times to get to know the neighbourhood, its associations and its inhabitants.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Temporarily installed in the Kleurdoos playground<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Because the redevelopment of Centrumplein was delayed, the work was first installed in the playground of Jenaplan De Kleurdoos primary school, where it provided an interesting game.
