Nhimbe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nhimbe Trust, located in the city of Bulawayo, is an organisation working in the field of theatre, and more specifically in arts education, training and the development of cultural policies. It promotes and defends freedom of artistic expression.<\/p>\n

Nhimbe Trust focuses on several projects, the following 3 of which are supported by Africalia:<\/p>\n

Bluez Caf\u00e9 :<\/strong> In early 2017, Nhimbe bought a house as part of a partnership with the Youth Contact Centre and was able to move into their premises. Nhimbe now has permanent rehearsal spaces and podiums in the heart of Bulawayo.<\/p>\n

Children in Theatre and Television (CITT) :<\/strong> This school runs weekend courses to provide professional theatre training for 30 young people (aged between 15 and 25) from 6 schools in Bulawayo and the surrounding area. The training programme is spread over 3 years.<\/p>\n

Women in Theatre and Television (WITT) :<\/strong> This project offers professional training and resources to emerging female scriptwriters, actors, directors and producers. WITT aims to showcase the work of these women on a regular basis and make their voices heard. The project takes them to cinemas across the country and seeks out national and international opportunities.<\/p>\n

Programme 2017-2021:<\/em> Africalia contributes to the costs of management staff and supports the Bluez Caf\u00e9, CITT and WITT projects.<\/p>\n

Programme 2022-2026 : <\/em> Africalia assists and supports the organisation in (1) strengthening associative governance and networking cultural players, (2) advocacy, (3) professionalising skills, (4) producing quality cultural and artistic works, (5) disseminating works more widely and (6) generating income.<\/p>\n
