They reflect the commitment of the organisation and its members to conduct the activities in an ethical and responsible manner that respects human rights. These values of Africalia must serve as a guide for the decisions and actions taken by the organisation and its members.<\/p>\n\n<p>Africalia condemns behaviour or actions that go against the mentioned values, both within the organisation and among its partners, as well as in the context of the interventions it finances. The list of values below is neither exhaustive nor exclusive and Africalia will take into account all actions and behaviours likely to compromise the rights and the protection of its staff and direct and indirect beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n<h3>1.1 Integrity<\/h3>\n<p>Africalia is committed to contributing to the fight to protect the professional, moral and physical integrity of all those who work with and for Africalia in all countries.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><i>Moral and physical integrity<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>All those who work with and for Africalia in all countries must contribute positively, in accordance with their training and the instructions given by the employer, to the prevention policy implemented within the framework of the protection of workers against violence and sexual or moral harassment at work, and refrain from any act of violence and sexual or moral harassment at work. They must also refrain from any abuse of the complaints procedure mentioned below.<\/p>\n\n<p>In order to avoid as much as possible the risk, occurrence and damage of psychosocial risks (burn-out, stress, turnover, anxiety, depression, violence and moral and sexual harassment), Africalia concludes a contract with an external service for prevention and protection at work, which provides a psychosocial prevention advisor to the non-profit organization Africalia. The contact details of this service are provided in the appendices to the employees&#039; contracts.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><i>Financial integrity<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Africalia places particular importance on sound financial management. It requires everyone working with or for Africalia to comply with all applicable anti-corruption laws, regulations, and codes. Africalia staff ensure that the non-profit&#039;s finances are managed responsibly and ethically.<\/p>\n\n<p>Beneficiaries and their subcontractors, agents or staff members may not receive or offer any commission or remuneration as an incentive or reward to perform or refrain from performing acts relating to the performance of the contract or to favor or disfavor anyone.<\/p>\n\n<p>Any gift made to Africalia employees must be declared in a gift register made available to them.<\/p>\n\n<p>Fraud and corruption are avoided in all circumstances and actively countered.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><i>Avoiding conflicts of interest<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Africalia&#039;s governance, management, and employees ensure that any situation of personal conflict of interest is avoided and refrain from actively seeking it, in order to fulfill their duties impartially and objectively. Any appearance of a conflict of interest must be avoided. If such a situation arises, the necessary steps are taken to find a solution.<\/p>\n\n<h3>1.2 Respect<\/h3>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><i>Respect for culture, creators, and their creations<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>It is Africalia\u2019s mission to promote sustainable development through cultural exchange. Africalia aims to make culture a key sector of development cooperation and thus strengthen international solidarity.<\/p>\n\n<p>In Africalia&#039;s vision, culture is both the foundation and the ultimate goal of human development. Culture and creativity are essential elements of sustainable human development and important economic factors in Africa.<\/p>\n\n<p>As an organization dedicated to culture and creativity, Africalia places creators and artists at the heart of its work. Artists play a crucial role in promoting freedom of expression and democratic debate.<\/p>\n\n<p>Africalia will ensure that intellectual property issues are always respected.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><i>Respect for cultural diversity<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Africalia respects and is committed to cultural diversity. The organization is vigilant about the position of the African diaspora in Belgium and demands that people of African origin be considered as equal partners.<\/p>\n\n<p>Its commitments to decolonization are reflected in its internal organization, its activities and its relationship with its partners.<\/p>\n\n<p><i>Africalia&#039;s Decolonization Policy Note clarifies this commitment.<\/i><\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><i>Respect for the environment: towards sustainable, inclusive, fair and environmentally friendly human development<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Culture and creativity create decent and sustainable jobs. They contribute to sustainable growth on a human scale, non-polluting and based on the knowledge economy.<\/p>\n\n<p>Africalia is committed to environmental protection, in compliance with European and international commitments, while taking into account the complexity and interconnectedness of current challenges.<\/p>\n\n<p>Africalia&#039;s environmental policy is based on the following principles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n  <li>The environment is a global common good that must be protected by sharing responsibilities equitably.<\/li>\n  <li>The environment must be considered from a decolonial perspective.<\/li>\n  <li>The environment is a transversal issue.<\/li>\n  <li>The environment must be thought of from an intersectional perspective, interconnected with other systems of oppression.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Its environmental commitments are reflected in its internal organization, its activities and its relationships with its partners.<\/p>\n\n<p><i>Africalia&#039;s policy note on the Environment specifies this commitment.<\/i><\/p>\n\n<h3>1.3 Equity<\/h3>\n\n<p>Aware of the fundamental role of minorities (social class, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, etc.) and of intersectionality, Africalia is committed to fighting racism, sexism, colonialism, paternalistic visions and socio-economic inequalities.<\/p>\n\n<p>Culture contributes to advancing equity among all people by providing wider access to culture.<\/p>\n\n<h4>1.3.1 Gender Equity<\/h4>\n\n<p>Africalia is committed to gender equality and recognizes the following principles:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Gender equity is a <b>fundamental human right<\/b>.<\/li>\n  <li>The fight for gender equality must <b>taking into account all other forms of exclusion<\/b> and discrimination.
