The actions undertaken by our partners in Zimbabwe (Nhimbe Trust, Pamberi Trust, AfriKera Arts Trust) is guided by their desire to raise standards of professionalism in the Performing Arts.

Zimbabwe has its National Arts Council and recently created a “standalone”¬†Ministry of Sports, Arts and Culture, now separate from the Education portfolio.

However in this country where the economy is challenged and censorship is commonplace, Africalia’s partners foster the advocacy role for the arts and stand up to allow cultural operators and performers to exercise their freedom of expression.

Afrikera Arts Trust

AfriKera Arts Trust aims to contribute to contemporary dance training in Zimbabwe by offering to 15 young men and women a three-year contemporary dance training course based on a full-time and broad curriculum. Read more
