Teddy Mazina spent many years in political exile in Belgium, and on his return chose to become involved in the democratic debate in Burundi as a photographer. Always in black and white, his photos, which are both simple and of high artistic quality, constitute an exceptional archive of the socio-political life of his country. A memory activist, Teddy's images in this book are sometimes poignant, sometimes festive, but above all they shed light on the Burundi of today, still recovering, torn between hope and disappointment.
