The 10th edition of the Market for African Performing Arts – MASA – will take place in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) from March 10 to March 17, 2018. It will also celebrate its 25th anniversary. Africalia works in a partnership with the MASA and is pleased to welcome the representatives of the international market in Brussels for a press conference. The event will be hosted on January 16, 2018 at the Secretariat of the ACP Group of States.
This 10th edition will follow the original project of the MASA: to play a key role in the cultural development of African performing arts. This year, 64 creative companies from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, America and the Pacific region have been shortlisted. 7 disciplines from the living arts will be represented: music, dance, theater, tale-telling, comedy stand up, street art and slam poetry. It is an opportunity for cultural operators and for the public to get in touch with the diversity of performing arts, and with contemporary art scenes from the different continents.
The theme for this edition “Which business models for African performing arts?” will raise the question of a sustainable financing for culture in Africa.
Africalia will have the pleasure to welcome the general executive of the MASA in Brussels to present the market during a press conference held on January 16 at 10:30 AM at the Secretariat of the ACP Group of States.
The conference is addressed to cultural operators, journalists and the public.
