BURKINA FASO CULTURAL PLATFORM

PCBF - jazz
PCBF - jazz

The Plateforme Culturelle du Burkina Faso (PCBF) currently comprises five associations: Benebnooma, Espace Culturel Gambidi, Jazz à Ouaga, Umané Culture and Afrik'Heur. These organisations are pooling their resources, skills and some of their activities to work towards the development of a sustainable arts and culture economy in Burkina Faso.

Based in Ouagadougou, the PBCF aims to defend the interests of its members (with the authorities in particular), provide technical and material support for decentralised initiatives and promote the professionalisation of the performing arts.

This structure works to decentralise cultural action by organising travelling events such as the Caravane Jazz à Ouaga, Waga Hip Hop, the Nuits Atypiques de Koudougou and the Gambidi cultural space. The PBCF's artistic and cultural activities (training technicians in the cultural sector) are of long-term benefit to the people of Burkina Faso in towns, districts and villages.

Programme 2017-2021 Africalia supports the development of skills such as associative, administrative and financial management; training for sound technicians; advocacy for cultural policies and the decentralisation of cultural action.

Programme 2022-2026 : Africalia assists and supports PCBF in (1) strengthening associative governance and the networking of cultural players, (2) advocacy, (3) the professionalisation of skills, (4) the production of quality cultural and artistic works, (5) wider dissemination of works and finally (6) the ability to generate income.
